The Samadhi Manifesto

My Samadhi is Hot is here to melt the face off your soul. It’s for those practitioners who want to go beyond what Hafiz called “teacup talk of God”, for those Soldiers of Love who understand what Khalil Gibran meant in this passage:

To know the pain of too much tenderness
To be wounded by your own understanding of love;
And to bleed willingly and joyfully.
To wake at dawn with a winged heart and
give thanks for another day of loving;

I’ve created My Samadhi is Hot to foster a particular kind of dialogue for a particular kind of practitioner. To help with that process, I’ve written this manifesto with explicit principles and guidelines. These principles and guidelines are taken as self-evident and provide the context for the writings and conversation on this site. As such, they won’t be debated here because it would be a waste of everyone’s time.

  • Enlightenment is simply the direct realization of reality as it is, unraveling the knot of duality.
  • Enlightenment does not mean you become a perfect human being without faults.
  • Enlightenment is possible. Depending on your effort, practice, and quality of teachers, it can take 5-15 years to finish the path.
  • Enlightenment happens in the context of life, not separate from it. It is both transcendent and imminent.
  • Language matters… and there are many flavors and ways of speaking of enlightenment.
  • Speak from your own experience. Theory is only helpful as it relates to your/our actual experience. Postulating for the sake of intellectual debate is not helpful as it is not grounded in anything real and is usually simply parroting of what we’ve heard, but have not understood ourselves.
  • Intuition is important. Please talk openly. Practice is real, enlightenment is possible, and so speaking from our own experience and intuition is not only important in that process, but also demonstrates these truths to other practitioners.
  • Realization is an embodiment.
  • Practice takes different forms and flavors – secular, ritualized, scientific, artful, poetic, and more. If one lights you up more than others, that’s wonderful. Be open to other forms and learn.
